Motorola Moto E Gen. 2 (2015) REVIEW!

This phone may by cheap, but is it terrible?

  • 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor
  • 2,390mAh battery
  • 8GB memory with microSD support up to 32GB
  • 4G LTE connectivity

Body

Rather than shouting out ‘Look at this phone!’, it warmly invites you to pick it up – it feels great in the hand.

The body is a smooth matte plastic and comes in black or white, It has no removable battery, but also no silly SIM card slots you need to access with a toothpick. Instead, it’s built into the ‘Motorola Band’ around the edge. These come off rather easily, and have the (up to 32GB) microSD card slot and the SIM card on the left side, and the power/volume buttons on the left, and also a sticker with the IMEI number on, that can be pulled out. I guess this is there, and not in the band, as the bands are interchangeable with different colours. I stick with the normal black.

In mine, I use a Sandisk Class 4 32GB microSD, and that is what I store all my Spotify playlists on. The band itself is quite rugged when not clipped on, however, it still bends. The button covers are built onto the band, but I wish they weren’t, and were interchangeable so I could have my power button blue, and my volume button white. The sides of the band are textured to grip much more easily than the back of the device itself. Just above the centre of said back, there is a slightly curved dip where the Motorola logo is – I wish this was a fingerprint sensor. Just above that dip, around the camera, there’s another one, but this time it’s silver. I don’t see why they did this, and why they positioned the camera there, because as it’s a small phone, my finger sits on the camera, which gets very annoying when I take a photo as they end up with smudges from my fingertips. The camera would be better off at one of the top corners, and also, this glass covering the lens is quite large – 90mm across the diameter, but the lens itself is just 50mm. Why?!

Inside

The phone itself seems quite fast, and has a Geekbench score of 1261

Due to the no-bloatware route Motorola took for the E, you can get rid of the three pre-installed Moto apps; Moto Assist, Alert, and Migrate.

The other apps include a Gallery, Camera, Phone, Messaging (though I prefer Google’s Messenger), Contacts, Device Help, Downloads, FM Radio, Moto (just for setting up gestures), Settings, and then the Google apps, like the Play Store.

Having this take on bloatware means that I can put much more apps and games on it – even if I do have to still get rid of some apps when I want to install something large. Also, the 1GB of RAM lets me have my WordPress widget on my home screen without slowing the phone down.

Overall

This is my daily driver, and as I am only 12, it’s the only phone I use. But I like it compared to my mum’s LG G3, but it’s no match for my dad’s S7 Edge! I doubt this phone will ever get Nougat (Android 7.0), but it’s staying up to speed, even if it was made in 2015. It’s good – I like it! Apart from the camera. That’s just…

Thanks for reading my first tech review. I hope you like it! What do you think? Tell me down in the comments below! Until next time, Adios!

STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2 (2017) SPECULATION AND IDEAS

Welcome to my personal speculation on the Sequel of Star Wars Battlefront (2015). We have no idea what the game will be called, as the devs are referring to it just as ‘Battlefront’s Sequel’.

INFO FOUND IN:

Star Wars Battlefront – Battlefront 2 Campaign? Concept / Ideas, 23rd Nov 16

From <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzlVzTzJzqc>

EA’s CFO, Blake Jorgensen, said that Battlefront’s Sequel will arrive a year from now

DICE, Criterion and Motive Studios are working on it together, Motive are making the Campaign.

Motive have Portal designer, Kim Swift, who also worked on Left for Dead.

Motive are headed by Assassins Creed veteran Jade Raymond. This leaves us very happy as Assassins Creed is a single-player story-based series of games, along with Valve’s Portal series, and suggests that we will be getting a campaign. (sinceconfirmed, read below)

INFO FOUND IN:

Battlefront 2 Heroes (Speculation & More) – Star Wars Battlefront, 3rd Feb 17

From <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6KCsQB_CZE>

Announced that DICE, Motive and Criterion are working on Battlefront’s sequel, and many developers, including Hero Designer Guillaume Mroz, tweeted that there are working on it:

He’s very excited with our hero list and improvements and looking forward to telling us more.

The game is set to take place in multiple eras, as the EA boss, Andrew Wilson said, during an investor’s call:

We’re thrilled to bring a new Star Wars Battlefront game to fans worldwide in 2017 holiday season. In the past two years, Rogue One and The Force Awakens have opened new storylines and captured the imagination of hundreds of millions of Star Wars fans. We’ve listened closely to our passionate Star Wars Battlefront community and have expanded our existing game with more great content and experiences since its launch. As that game continues to thrive, we have also heard our players’ desire for even more depth and progression.
Our next Star Wars Battlefront will be even bigger, taking players into more locations and allowing them to play with more heroes and characters across multiple Star Wars eras. There will be new ways to play, including an all-new single-player campaign and much, much more that we are excited to share with our players in the months ahead. To build a game of this magnitude, we’ve brought together three great studios, DICE, Motive and Criterion, and allowing their areas of expertise to deliver an amazing experience in the next Star Wars Battlefront.’

This transcript also says that the Campaign is confirmed, but we don’t know how many eras it will have in the game. It could have 4, the Prequels (Ep1, 2 and 3), the Original Trilogy (OT) (Ep4, 5 and 6), the Sequels (Ep7, 8 (The Last Jedi, when out) and maybe, as a DLC, Ep9). I said 4, and yes – there could also be (what I call) the Sub-Stories. These are Rogue One, and when it comes out, the yet-to-be-titled Han Solo movie, in 2018, maybe as a DLC or a free update.

WHEN WILL IT RELEASE?

The date of the Battlefront Sequel release date is unknown – all we know is that it’s coming in Autumn/Fall. This could be any month from September to December.
